Richard Smither

Richard joined Northcross in 2020 and has over 25 years of experience in risk management and client relationship roles from major European & North American investment banks. Immediately prior to Northcross, Richard was Head of Risk and Portfolio Pricing for Barclays Prime Brokerage business for the EMEA region from 2015-2020. In this role Richard was responsible for managing the day to day risk for Barclays Prime Finance hedge fund and institutional client base across a multi-asset financing platform. The position also encompassed managing key stakeholder relationships and delivering structured financing solutions to clients. Before Barclays, Richard was the Global Head of Prime Services risk at Bank of Nova Scotia from 2012-2015. Richard transitioned into this role from Daiwa Capital Markets, where he was Head of Synthetic Prime Brokerage Risk, as a result of their acquisition of Daiwa's synthetic prime brokerage platform by Scotia. Earlier, Richard spent 7 years at Lehman Brothers International Europe in various Equity Prime and Credit risk roles, prior to which he held similar risk roles at both Deutsche Bank and HypoVereinsbank after beginning his career in credit at both NatWest Markets and NatWest Bank.
